It may actually be safer than the traditional standing scooters because kids will be sitting in one spot and remaining more stable while riding the scooter. Perhaps the bigger difference between the E300 and other versions, however, is the speed. The E300 can travel up to 15 miles per hour! For this reason, it does make me feel safer that they are seating while riding it, but a helmet is required either way.
